RE: ISA Server 2004 From SBS 2003 R2 Transition Pack

Hi David,

Thanks for your update. Thank Merv for the input.

As I know, the Transition Pack will come with the media of ISA server 2004
together. The medias are the parts of the Transition Pack.

If there's anything else about this issue I can do for you, please do not
hesitate to let me know.

Thank you and have a nice day,

Best regards,

Terence Liu (MSFT)

Thanks very much for the reply, just one more question. Does the
transition
pack come with the Media or do we have to order that separate?

Thanks again.

Hello David,

Thank you for posting here. Let's also thank David for the input.

According to your description, I understand that what happen to your ISA
server 2004 after you apply the SBS 2003 R2 Transition Pack. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, you will get a ISA Server 2004 Standard Edition,
and
a separate media of the ISA Server 2004. You can install it on any
server
you like. The ISA server 2004 media comes with separate key. You can
install it on the 2 processor server.

For more about the media and license information, please contact the
retail
vendor or our Licensing Office:

You can call 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday,
6:00
A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing
specialist.

Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing
Sites http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/index/worldwide.mspx to find
contact information in their locations.

The SBS 2003 R2 Transition Pack is available for purchase through the
retail channel. The SBS 2003 R2 Transition Pack includes media for
Windows
Server 2003
R2 Standard Edition, a product key, and a wizard that removes the SBS
2003
R2 design constraints. With the SBS 2003 R2 Transition Pack you are
entitled to the media for the product components included in your
version
of SBS2003R2. You can use this media to move the applications to a new
server or for system recovery.

For example, if you own SBS2003R2 Standard Edition and you purchase the
SBS
2003 R2 Transition Pack Standard Edition, you are entitled to receive
the
media for Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition. SBS 2003 R2 Premium
Edition customers who purchase the SBS2003 R2 Transition Pack Premium
Edition are entitled to receive the media for Exchange Server 2003
Standard
Edition, SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition, and ISA Server 2004 Standard
Edition.

Hi all,

We are looking at migrating from SBS 2003 R2 Premium via the Transition
Pack, my question is about ISA 2004. What licensing are we left with
once
the Transition Pack is applied? We may or may not move ISA to new
hardware
but I need to know what the final license would be. I know that new
copies
of ISA are licensed per processor and our original SBS R2 licenses
allowed
up
to 2 procs. So are we left with a 2 processor license for ISA 2004
after
the
Transition Pack install?

Thanks,
David
