At this point, know one knows what the end of life will be for SBS 2003 R2.
I think I would go for new 64-bit hardware now and then buy SBS 2003 R2 with
Software Assurance.
If you are not selling Software Assurance for SBS 2003...

Hi All,
I have a customer contemplating replacing his elderly SBS 2000 Server but
he
doesn't know whether or not to wait for SBS 2008 ( Nov 2008 ? )
He'd like a hassle free upgrade/product and is wondering whether or not
SBS
2008 may have lots of early teething troubles.
He'd very much like to press the button right now on SBS 2003 R2 but is
worried about how long into the future Microsoft will continue to support
SBS 2003 R2
If you check out Microsoft's lifecycle matrix they say to check out the
individual products.
Windows Server 2003 SP2 says it will end of life 24 months after the next
major service pack, though there is also an addendum that end of life has
yet to be determined.
Exchange Server 2003 SP2 says that it will end of life 12 months after the
next major service pack, but again has the addendum that end of life has
yet
to be dertermined.
Does anyone know exactly how long these products will still be fully
supported by Microsoft ?
The customer is looking for at least three years out of a new install.
What's the chances of Microsoft dropping support for them before say
summer
2011 ?
Jim.
