I really appreciate the time everyone spends to help out here. I doubt you
get paid to help like you do! Everyone should appreciate your efforts. I know
I do.

I would be fine if everyone gave up on this issue at this time. I am ready
to give up thinking about it and either wait for BitBob to come around, or
set up a new totally different username for the user and migrate all his data
to the new profile and mailbox. Or wipe his laptop totally clean and start
from square one. Obviously we are close to if not past the point of dimishing
return....

"Username-specific" since a different username on the same laptop works

AND

"System-wide" since the same username in both the domain AND local do NOT
work to allow Outlook RPC to work.

I say AND because the username works fine here on my PC. So we know the
problem isn't at the server, right?

I can't see how that's going to solve the OWA problem, but if you get the
other working, you might not care. I'd try clearing the IE history, deleting
the temp files, and if still no go, deleting the cookies. As a last resort,
you can do the Reset thing from the Advanced page in IE. That Reset thing
can be a little painful for the user, so if you get specific errors you can
troubleshoot, it might be worth doing that first.

server, the laptop supports outlook over rpc just fine

i found that if I create a new account for the troubled user on my
pc, outlook over rpc works just fine here too (of course this is
while I am logged in as myself on my pc)

so, it appears that only the username in combo with that laptop has a
problem .

this fellow had the same probelm it looks like . I will follow some of
teh steps in this link too

more info that might make sense of this is that when IE on that laptop
is used to access OWA it only works to open messages when in Basic
mode . If Premium mode is used the browser is unable to open any
messages and displays an Error on Page in lower left corner . Problems
with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly ....

so an IE problem maybe. I have cleared out the IE passwords and it did
no help
