I am having trouble with my SBS at work and getting complaints from
users of the 'RPC Server Unavailable'. It happens on and off
throughout the day every day and there seems to be no apparent cause
or issue.
Is there anything anyone can suggest I check to find the cause of this
problem?
I'd appreciate any help on this matter as it has been going on for
months now.
Main Server: Windows Server 2003 R2
Terminal Server: Small Business Server
Clients: Mix of XP and 2000 (mainly XP)
Errors on TS after problem:
Unable to obtain Terminal Server User Configuration. Event ID: 1219
Windows cannot determine the username or computer name. Group Policy
processing aborted. Event ID: 1053
I'm a bit confused as to when/where you're seeing this error and what the
symptoms are exactly. That said, note that you can't even install Terminal
Services on SBS2003 - you can only enable remote desktop (and that is for
admin use only). If you're using SBS2000, try posting in
microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000 (and note that it's bad practice to
let users log into your DC/Exchange box at all).
