Re: certificate problem with outlook 2007

Hi Skip,

From your last email, I understand you found the CA is not properly
installed and you failed to reinstall it.

However, to make the RPC over HTTP to work, we don't need install other
certificate but using the certificate that generated by CECIW.

Therefore, based on the current situation, please try:

1. Re-run CEICW on the SBS server;
2. On the Outlook 2007 client Windows Vista computer, remove the old SBS
certificate by opening the Internet Explorer then Content and Certificates;
( note: you need to open IE as administrator)
3. using the Windows Vista computer to connect the RWW website to install
the new certificate;
Open IE and type http://<yourcomanywebistename>/remote , then you will be
asked to install a certificate from the SBS server;
4. Re-configure a Outlook 2007 profile for PRC over HTTP and try again to
connect the SBS server.

Hope this helps.
Also, I attached my last response in case you missed it.

Hi,

Glad to hear from you again Skip.

Yes, since the Outlook 2003 is working fine with the same network
connection from the external. It is possibly the Outlook client or Windows
Vista issue. Let's try more steps together:

Step 1: Please re-create a new Outlook 2007 profile

How to Create an Outlook Profile for Users to Use with RPC over HTTP
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/aa996069(EXCHG.65).aspx

Note: although it is for Outlook 2003, it is similar to Outlook 2007
configuration.

Step 2: Please disable all the 3rd party firewalls on the Windows Vista
computer if you have, including Windows Firewall if enabled.

Step 3: If you cannot configure a default gateway for your network
settings, you can work around this problem by adding a DWORD value that is
named DefConnectOpts to the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\RPC

To add this DWORD value, follow these steps in KB913843.

Error messages when you try to connect Outlook 2007 to Exchange Server
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/913843/en-us

Step 4: Use Ping command to try to Ping the Proxy server's public IP from
the problematic Windows Vista computer. If it can be resolved, then use
"Telnet <Proxy server's IP> 25" to test if you can connect to the proxy
server's 25 port.

However, if the issue still persists, we may need to capture network
traffic package for further analysis in our next post.
