Re: SBS2003 Keeps crashing Help!!!

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Jason:

A hard lock like that (even the clock stopping) would seem to indicate a hardware issue. James makes a good point though, I've heard of Nod32 causing lock-ups as well...but never that hard. Still worth checking out.

So, in this order:
1) try disabling NOD32 or updating it to the latest version.
2) Check your hardware for problems. Fans not spinning, buildup of dust, etc.
3) Power related issues. Even if the UPS is good, if the power supply IN THE SERVER is failing, it'll cause problems.

And on an unrelated note, you do NOT need to leave your server logged in with an administrator account to work. In fact, leaving it logged in is very very bad from a security standpoint. All system services (such as exchange) run with various system accounts and run in the background. The "console" is exactly that...just a window to adjust how things run...but not necessary for them to run in the background.

Hi Cliff

I don't understand the question sorry cliff

Yes i can see the clock on the console but when the computer stops so does the clock

Next question yes we do leave the server loged on as administrator I thought we had to up so exchange would work? is that right sorry about not replying before

Ahh. Once I read the clock thing, I realized you've posted this multiple times.

So I'll repeat my question from the other post...

You can *see* the clock on the console? Are you leaving this server open with a user logged in??

The server is attached to a ups power system and yes there is no mouse or keyboard, the clock at the botton tell me when the system went down

No error message it just stops

Make sure the server isn't overheating (check all fans, CPU fan and case fans). Could also be a bad power supply or other electrical glitch. (I'm assuming you have no mouse pointer or keyboard control once it "hangs". i.e., it 'freezes').
