Ok, I have made those changes and nothing has happend. I stopped the Default
Web Site and re-started the service, again neither monitoring or backup are
pages are working, Do I need to re-start the server to fix this? will the
changes be immediate?
In relation to the companyweb, If I go through the steps again re-installing
will this help? or will it simply cause more problems?
Thanks for your help with this

There must be a misconfiguration on the IIS sites (which is something that I.
see often here in the forums). Start by going to the IIS Manager, Default
Web Sites, Properties, and see if the IP address is set to (All Unassigned).
Then click the Advanced button and make sure that under 'Multiple
identities..." you have two entries. One for port 80 and host header the
name of the server, and one with IP address 127.0.0.1, at port 80 with empty
host header.
That should fix the Backup and Monitoring issue.
For companyweb it's tough to tell what is going on because following the
document carefully is something that works and I'm not sure what prevents
the reinstallation from succeeding.

What are the error messages you get in Internet Explorer? Also make sure
that the .NET version that is used in the Default Web Site (and the
Monitoring and Backup virtual directories) are 1.1 and not 2.0

Iassume you mean the 'Default Website' is set to Unassigned? which it
is
and
companyweb is assigned to 192.168.16.2 also state is running and port
is
80

First let's try to make Monitoring and Backup operational. In IIS
Manager,
go to Properties and make sure that the IP address is set to 'All
Unassigned'. Then go to the Properties of companyweb and check to see
if
the
IP address is set to the actual address of the server.

Are you trying to restore a specific database or are you trying
to
just
make
companyweb operational with the default installation?
If it is the second you are trying to accomplish, then you must
follow
the
article I posted in detail, because that's the only way you can
get
the
default installation running. If you still get errors, please
post
the
exact errors you are getting

I tried to move the sharepoint database, it did not go well,
and
cannot
get
the companyweb to work again.
I have tried to reinstall the system again by the following
steps:
1. Tried to repair Sharepoint 2.0 via control panel, this
did
not
work
2. Using CD3 of install disk re-installed the intranet
component,
this
has
not worked either.
3. Removed the internal database, and then run through step
2
again,
still
not luck.
Since doing these changes the MSSQL server is running,
assuming
because
I
have removed the internal database.
Can anyone advise best method to re-install, fix this
problem.
