Hello John,
Thank you for your post and thanks for Mike's help.
My name is Gary Wang, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this issue!
Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:
You want to know how to make Windows Vista clients compatible with SBS
2000 and SBS 2003 server.
If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.
Suggestion :
==============
The document which Mike mentioned is about SBS 2003. However, for SBS 2000,
there are no such official document talk about the compatiblity of Windows
Vista client.
Based on my expeirence, you have add the Vista clients into SBS 2000 domain
manually. Of course it must be Vista Business Edition or higher. And fax
client will not work in this situation.
By the way, for more information, please use SBS 2000 newsgroup for which
should be more relevant newsgroup to get further details:

Hope it helps.
I look forward to your reply. Also, if you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to let me know. I am happy to help. :-)
Thank you for your time and cooperation!
Best regards,
Gary Wang(MSFT)
