RE: General Tab does not register upgrade

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

My name is Robbin Meng, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this
issue!

Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:

After you have upgraded to Windows SBS 2003 R2 edition, you checked the
General Tab in the System Properties but didn't find the "R2" version
information.

If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.

It is normal and by design. To determine whether you have successfully
installed Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Technologies, follow these
steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and
then click Server Management.

2. In the Server Management console, examine the top right of the screen.
If you have successfully installed the program, the Windows Small Business
Server 2003 R2 logo appears at the top of the screen.

Additionally, you can examine the Navigation Pane. If you have successfully
installed the program, you will see the Update Services node in this pane.

Note If you select not to install the Windows Software Update Services
(WSUS) component of Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2, this node will
not appear.

3. Examine the registry to see whether the following registry subkeys
exist:

o HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\UpdateServices
o HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Setup\ Value
"R2"=dword:00000001
o HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Setup\R2\

These subkeys also indicate that the program has successfully installed.

MORE INFORMATION:

The version of Small Business Server 2003 does not appear to be the R2
version after you run the Setup program from the Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server 2003 R2 Technologies CD

Hope this helps. Also, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not
hesitate to let me know.

Thank you for your time and cooperation!

Best regards,

Robbin Meng(MSFT)
