Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the response. I checked the order under Network Connections and
they appear in the same order as yours.
Thanks.

I noticed that the Ipconfig for SpinalTap's server returned the WAN NIC.
first and the LAN NIC second. Is that an indication of the bindings being
backwards for the NIC adapters on the server? When I do an Ipconfig on my
server it lists the LAN adapter first then the WAN adapter. It's an easy
thing to check. Open Network Connections window, click the Advanced menu,
choose Advanced Settings and see what order the adapters are listed in. They
should be this order:
Server local area connection (local area network adapter)
Network connection (Internet connection adapter)
Any additional network adapters
(Remote access connections)
I remember having to re-order mine but I forget what effect it had on the
server.
Thanks
Jeff

Ok, we've eliminated some / a few / many things <g>.
Have you run the SBS BPA?

Thanks for the response Cliff.
I reinstalled the ISS client from the link you sent, restarted and still
the
same thing.
I am on Vista SP1.

Based on your IPconfig, I assume that your clients are Vista (IPv6 has

If so, are you sure you are using the Vista capable ISA client? The one
that shipped with ISA2004 does *NOT* play well with Vista.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the response.
I do have ISA client on the desktop. I believe it is configured
correctly.
The only thing I can see is that it cannot autodetect the ISA server -
I
always have to manually enter it. I will try to generate some logs in
ISA
and see if there is anything in there.
I have cleared all IE logs, etc. I have also put the Security to as
low
as
possible and added these sites to trusted sites.. One thing is that
the
connection setting uses my SBS server as the proxy - not sure if that
should
be there.
Also - the weird thing is that browsing these sites directly from my
SBS
server is flawless - I do not see any of the issues at all. Any
thoughts
on
this?

Do you have the ISA client installed on the desktops? I'm not clear
on
how
this can be DNS related - if part of a page comes up, you're finding
the
address OK, which would seem to rule out DNS.
I'd browse a few sites to reproduce the behavior, then check your ISA
logs
to see if there's any useful information there. Also, make sure the
ISA
client is installed and configured correctly. I would also run
through
the
usual suspects such as clearing the temporary Internet files, etc.
That
you're seeing this in both IE and Firefox argues against anything
like
that,
but it's worth doing anyway. Also, if your cache settings are
allowing a
huge cache (as they probably do by default), I'd knock that back to
around
50 mb or so.
If you can think of a site where you reliably run into problems,
could
you
post the link?

Hello,
I am having some problems that I am pretty sure are related to SBS
2003,
but
I am not knowledgeable enough about DNS, etc. to be sure. With my
SBS
server
I am also running ISA 2004. I will try to describe the problem,
but it
may
be a little hard to understand. I will try to work with any
responses
to
narrow down the problem as much as I can - this is very
frustrating.
On any of my SBS 2003 client desktops, they successfully can surf
normal
websites on the internet. There does not appear to be any issues.
As
soon
as
I try to log into restricted sites - like online banking, or other
sites
with
HTTPS://, I start running into problems. I am not saying that it
is
totally
related to HTTPS:, but that is where the problem seems to be.
As soon as I log into these sites, the next screens have issues.
Sometimes
they will not come back at all and all I get is that Internet
Explorer
cannot
display the web page. Sometimes part of the page will come back,
but
some
of
the pictures or buttons will not download. Sometimes there are
errors
at
the
bottom of IE (Unable to load object). This happens with IE or
Firefox.
The reason that I think it is related to SBS 2003 is that if I open
another
IE window while I am experiencing the above problems at the bottom
of
IE
it
says trying to connect to 192.168.16.2 (which is the IP of my
server),
and
once I even saw a quick flash where it said DNS Error.
I know that is not much to go on, but again, I do not think it is
network
hardware related (all other functions of surfing, network, etc)
work
fine,
and I do not think it is the internet provider - again, normal
websites
load
fast and completely. If anybody responds, I will answer any and
all
questions to help get this narrowed down - like I said it is
extremely
frustrating.
Thanks in advance.
