Re: Adding a second RAID set

John,
I looked up the specs for your PE2600 and you do have the ability to add
another backplane. Check out this article and go to the "Installing a SCSI
Backplane Daughter Card" section Actually you'll find all your answers here
in the users guide. You may want to download and save this.

Hi Allen

Yes we need two sepearte RAID1 arrays. How do I put the two new disk
on the second channel? If I insert them in the front slots of dell
server they end up in channel1. Do I need to open up server and
install disks there for channel 2?

Thanks

seperate channels.

Hi

Yes the drives are there in RAID configuration utility that is where
we made RAID1 out of the two new disks. We have a dual channel raid
controller but the two new disks that we have added on the front of
dell server also end up on channel 1 in RAID configuration utility
like the previous two disks. Do these need to be on seperate
channels?

Thanks

Have you booted into the RAID configuration utility and make sure

Hi

Our Dell Perc 4/Di had two disks in a RAID 1 configuration. Now we
have added two more disks and have made another RAID1 out of these
two. In Perc configuration old and new raid sets appear as two
logical
drives. However when I reboot the server it says 0 logical disks
found. The only way for me is to take out the two new disks and
reboot
and then the original logical disk appears and I can boot into
windows. What am I doing wrong and what is the correct way to add
another pair of disks in a RAID1 while there is another pair
already
in RAID1 on Perc 4 /Di?

Many Thanks
