Re: WSUS - no longer working

Hi Rod,

Thanks for your reply.

And please notice that there is no SBS sp2. The SP2 is specific for Windows
Server 2003. I would like to suggest that you read the following KB before
upgrad:

Windows 2003 service pack 2 known issues on Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555912

Also, if you have any concern or questions on your current issue, please
feel free to let me know, I am happy to provide support.

If you want continue troubleshoot the problem you are facing, please help
to collect the MPS WSUS report on SBS. Please check below steps:

a. Download MPSrepot_SUS from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_SUS.EXE

b. Run MPSRPT_SUS.exe.

c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.

d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\MSUS\Bin\Reports\Cab

e. Send the .cab file directly to me.

Thanks again for your time and cooperation.

Have a great day :-)

Best regards,

Gary Wang(MSFT)

| Thanks for your response Garry.
|
| I tried everything that you advised, except installing WSUS 3.0, because
I
| think that i need to upgrade my SBS server SP1 to SP2 before installing
WSUS
| 3.0, this is where i think i made my mistake beforehand.
|
| I successfully re-installed WSUS 2.0 and followed your advice to restore
the
| susdb.bak.
| When I restored the database is said it was successful, however when i
tried
| to open the WSUS console, it come up with an error message saying that it
was
| unable to connect to the WSUS server.
|
| Having said that i have decided to download all the updates and install
them
| manually through synchronization.
|
| Thanks for you help, i appreciate it.
