How much success have you had with the "dragging in" process?

I think the client is also about to give up and just purchase a low end
Samsung or HP laser printer for the home. I found some for $50 after rebate
and they are just straight USB printer/no multi-function.

OK, I've gone the kb article and even made the update to the registry as
the kb suggested but still a no go. The printer is an HP running on
USB001. I even installed the driver on the office computer so there is a
matched set of drivers at home and the office. And as another test I
installed a generic Text printer at home and when I remoted THAT printer
DOES show up in the printers list. There's something about this HP
device.

Any other thoughts? Is the big issue because this is a multi-function
device (HP Photosmart c6180)? Would I have better luck with a dedicated
printer running on a USB?

First - not all printers will redirect successfully. Earlier USB
multi-function printers are notorious for not playing nice with a
redirected port.

Second, for printer redirection to work, your PC at the office has to
have the driver installed for the printer connected to your home PC.

Third - since you do have a USB printer at home, some USB ports are not
redirected by default. For more information on how to correct this and
enable these ports to be redirected, take a look at MSKB 302361 -
"Printers That Use Ports That Do No Begin With COM, LPT, or USB Are Not
Redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services Session"

I have an SBS 2003 Prem R2 network I am connecting to. When I am at home
on
my Windows XP Home computer I RWW into the server, then connect to my
desktop
in the office. I hit the options to share local drives and connect.
When I
am connected I can see local (Windows XP Home computer) drives and my
remote
(XP Pro desktop in the office) drives when I open up My Computer. BUT,

I look at my printers I can only see my printers in the office and not
my
home computer printers so I can print at home.

More more thing I do notice making me think something is not set right.
When I do hit the login I am first asked to confirm (with a check box)
to
enable remote drives, but the option for "Connect your local ports to
the
remote computer" is greyed and and not checked. That's probably why I
can't
get to my local printer which is connected via a USB. Why is it greyed
out
and not enabled? How I fix this?
