I agree with Cris - RWW or straight RDP. I see little benefit with VPN except as a "backup method" to access the server in case RWW or RDP methods fail.
Both RWW and RDP methods provide encrypted sessions and are secure. One way to handle this via straight RDP sessions (for multiple SBS servers and their cleint workstations) is to install the "Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 Administration Tools Pack" on your remote XP Pro workstation. You can then create and save mutiple RDP profiles/logins for each SBS server (and workstations depending on your SBS configuration).
Once connected to the SBS server via RDP, you can start another RDP session to a workstation via:
Server Management | Standard Management | Client Computers | (highlight the workstation) | Connect to Computer via Terminal Services.
RWW may be preferable when you have need to work on workstations. RDP may be preferred when you have to work on the SBS server itself, as remotely installing security updates, service packs and hotfixes sometimes affects the continuous RWW functionality (due to the stopping/starting of services).

Not sure I'd be using connection manager to do support...no really what it's intended for.
It's pretty much an end user tool.
When I need to connect to my customer's serves, I either RDP or RWW
You can save mulitple RDP connection setting profiles
You can save the RWW URLs in your favorites

I support several SBS installations. I currently have Connection Manager
installed for only one of the SBS servers. I wanted to rename the
connection prior to installing Connection Manager for a second SBS box, but
was unable to find a way to do this. So I tried installing Connection
Manager for the second SBS machine alongside the first, to see what would
happen.
After installation was complete I still had only one Connection Manager
listed under Network Connections. When I clicked it, it tried to connect
automatically to the second SBS machine, but using the credentials saved by
the first SBS connection manager.
I suppose I can keep the installation packages for the various connection
managers on hand, and when I need to connect to a particular SBS machine,
install that connection manager and manually enter my credentials for that
box -- but is there a better way? I'd prefer to find away for these
connections to live alongside each other.
Thanks in advance,
BJ
