Re: About netdom.exe

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

For SBS, you should be using the connect computer wizard, not netdom. SBS does a few things 'differently' including adding some AD properties and prepping the machine for RWW.

It will also, not coincidentally, remove any confusion about netdom syntax. :)

HI, all:

I use netdom.exe to join a host into domain.
As we know, we use the "/Domain" switch to specify the domain to join.
But what kind of domain names can we specify? NetBIOS domain name or
DNS domain name, or either?

My experience is: using DNS domain name seems always OK, while using
NetBIOS domain name sometime works sometimes don't.

I googled many meterials relative to "netdom join", just cannot find
any clue on this issue.
