Depending on the combination of OS and your servers security settings, this isn't uncommon. If you are running XP or Vista, you can safely adjust your GP security settings to disallow older protocols (NTLM!) and thus get improved security at the cost of backwards compatibility.
Hope that helps,

Hi
This is a great one, I recently took over support for a Small Business
Server 2003 R2 and the first thing I did was change the admin password to
"A.S.K. & H@d say day!" (not including the quotation marks).
I could logon to the server with no problems but when I tried to add a new
PC to the domain I got invalid user name or password. I tried manually
adding the PC and using the connect to wizard.
This had me stumped for a good hour and I checked all the usual IP and DNS
settings. I eventually change the password to a much simpler one 6 letters
and 1 numerical character and low and behold the PC joined first time.
Best practice guides stipulate strong and secure passwords / pass phrases,
so why when setting up such a strong password, do we lose functionality?
Any ideas?
