Re: Internet Connectivity Issues

The DNS settings you're referring to effect outbound traffic such as web browsing. The use of forwarders or the configuration of the DNS on your SBS should not have anything to do with an inbound RDP failure. I recommend leaving the DNS as configured by the CEICW (the Connect to Internet wizard on the SBS Console's To Do list). You could run that again anyway just to verify that everything is correctly configured.

When you try to connect to the server remotely using RDP, specifically what happens when it fails? Is anything logged in the event logs of the remote PC or the SBS?

When you attempt to e-mail your business alias from an external account, what's the result? If you try to telnet to your SBS from an external PC, what's the response?

Are all services running that should be? Do you have normal Internet access from your SBS and client PCs (after fixing the DNS)? Any noteworthy errors or warnings in the System or Application log on the SBS?

Why do you think a client PC or DOS attack? You could try shutting down the client PCs one at a time to see if the situation changes or improves.

We are experiencing Internet connectivity Issues and I believe that it may be
because of an internal machine or a denial of service attack. When the
problem occurred I went ahead and changed my DNS to point to an ISP DNS
instead of my server and that seemed to work. However, I can get to the
Internet, but my e-mail traffic was not coming in nor could I access RDP into
the server from the Internet? Can anyone please help me isolate the problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
