Good to hear that.

It is not unusual for DHCP to repair it's database though it sometime takes
a little while. Reading the info at http://www.eventid.net it shows that
more than a few users found the initial problem to be related to AV software
scanning the DHCP database so you may want to try and configure any AV
software to not scan the DHCP database folder if possible. Or it may have
just been one of those wierd things that happen on occasion.

This is really weird but suddenly DHCP started working properly again. I
have absolutely no explantion as to why except that my head was beginning
to hurt with the prospect of having to delve deeper into the wonderful
world of DHCP.

The info below on one of your Event IDs and possible solutions [I pasted

- Error: "An error occurred while accessing the DHCP database. Look at
the DHCP server log for more information on this error" - I received this
event along with Event 1014 from source DhchServer. I believe the problem
was originally caused by the AV scanning the DHCP directory. However,
turning off the AV scanning did not clear the errors. They still appeared
every day and on the DHCP Server service restart. To clear the error, I
stopped the DHCP Server service and then I renamed the DHCP.mdp file in
%systemroot%\system32\dhcp and also the backup one at
%systemroot%\system32\dhcp\backup\old\jet. After this was done, I
restarted the service and allowed it to rebuild the DHCP database. When
doing this, make sure you have conflict detection enabled on the DHCP
server or you may see duplicate IP addresses being assigned

If nothing seems to help I would uninstall and reinstall the DHCP server
service as I mentioned in my previous post.

The DHCP service should start up on its own once you remove the other
unathorized DHCP server after a short period of time. Look in the logs
for the server - particualry system and application to see if anything
listed there is of help and run the support tools netdiag and dcdiag on
the server to see if anything of note is shown as a problem. If you
gave other computers on the network correct static IPs and they can not
ping the server that has nothing to do with DHCP. If you tried pinging
server by name try pinging by its IP as shown via ipconfig /all to see
if that works. If ping works by IP but not name you have a name
resolution problem of some sort. If all looks well and DHCP still does
not work try uninstalling and reinstalling and reconfiguring DHCP
[Control Panel/add and remove programs/add and remove Windows
components/networking ].

There was another DHCP server on the network for a couple of days
giving out IP Addresses on a different network to my SBS network. I
have since removed it, but something is now wrong with the SBS DHCP
server. Some PCs cannot contact the DHCP server and even if I give
them the correct static addresses they still cannot ping the SBS
server. Other PCs on the same network are able to release and renew
their IP addresses OK. I have restarted the DHCP service, reconciled
the scope, confirmed that there are available addresses, deleted the
leases of the affected PCs, restarted the server. I am unable to
unauthorised the server. I get a "parameter incorrect" error. The
event logs are clean on the SBS server. Can someone please give me a
hand with this?
