Good Morning
no to disagree with your views on the matter ( not sarcastic : i'm pretty
sure you know more about sbs than me ( i don't have IT background )) but
i receive a larger than should be email with reply addresses .local.
it was one of the reasons i choose to do lan.company.com. also, as we
have outside facing sites, it made dns management easier.
taking the issue farther, what are the possible problems of using .com
instead of .local ??
thank you
PLeite

mct is correct
out of the box..when installing SBS..when you answer questions like:
Company Name, the setup will internal specifically suggest company.local
as your INTERNAL domain and then proceeds to setup your internal DNS for
use with the Active Directory domain company.local
Following completion of the setup, you are prompted to complete the To
Do List, which includes the Connect to the Internet Wizard. When
running that Wizard, you are prompted to Enter the external domain name
(.com, .net, whatever) for your Email and it will configure those email
addresses for you.
If you have not done so already...consider running the SBS BPA (Best
Practice Analyzer) on your system. you can find it at sbsbpa.com
.
