Re: Install Silverlight?

Yes. Since you have no reason to be surfing from your Server, you have no need of any silly add-ons to IE that could increase your risk. Of course, if you NEVER use IE on the server, it won't matter. But I suspect that most will inevitably do so, if only to go grab a KB they need. While that might not be a large exposure, it's an unnecessary one. What possible merit could there be to that sort of glitz for anything you should be doing on the server?

No known reason I can think of. I've declined it for all my servers. And all my workstations, for that matter. But I'm a hard case. ;)

For servers, though, I honestly can't think of a valid reason to install it.

In general I try to keep my server clean and install only those applications
that a server requires. I am running SBS 2003 std with WSUS 3.0SP1. WSUS
request approval to install “Silverlight at the server computer and says it
is “Needed by this group. What would be a valid reason to install
Silverlight at the server?

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
