RE: ISA2000 with SBS2003

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you unable to upload data
from internal TS server to external server. If I have misunderstood the
problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

First, we unable to help you to analyze the 3rd-party log. Please contact
the 3rd-party application support for assistance.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

1. By default, all SBS internal clients could access external after we run
the CEICW. Please rerun the CEICW to make sure your SBS 2003 server have
right network configuration. Go through the follow KB and rerun CEICW
carefully.

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763

Detailed steps for your reference:

a. On the SBS 2003 Server open the Server Management console. Go to
Standard Management\To Do List.

b. Click the "Connect to the Internet" link.

c. When navigating to the Firewall page, select "Enable firewall" and click
Next.

d. On the "Services Configuration" page, select all the items and then
click Next.

e. On the "Web Services Configuration" page, make sure "Allow access to the
entire Web site from the Internet" is selected. If you select "Allow access
to only the following Web site services from the Internet", make sure all
items in the list are selected. Click Next.

f. On the "Web Server Certificate" page, choose to create a new Web server
certificate and then type the public domain name (your public DNS name)
that you will use to access OWA and RWW (for example, if your public domain
name that you use to access the sites is www.xyz.com, you should type
www.xyz.com as the new certificate name).

g. Go through the remaining steps.

2. Please ensure the TS IE web proxy settings is properly:

a. Open the IE on the TS

b. Open Internet Options, select Connections tab, click LAN settings button

c. Tick the option "Use a proxy server for your LAN", input SBS internal IP
(192.168.16.2), and port 8080 (by default), and uncheck Automatically
detect settings

d. Click OK three times to finish.

3. Please try to install the ISA server 2004 firewall client on the TS:

On the TS, please access \\SBSServerName\mspclnt\, then run setup.exe.

4. Please ensure the SBS had applied the SBS 2003 sp1. The SBS 2003 sp0 was
not support since last year.

If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:

1. What TCP port does the Veterarian software upload data use?

2. Can you access Internet from TS?

3. Can you access Internet from other internal clients?

4. Please try to install the Veterarian software on other client, to test
the upload. What's the result?

5. Please also help to gather the ISA logs:

1) Open ISA Management console, navigate to 'Monitoring
Configuration'\'Logs'. In the right panel, right-click 'Packet filters' and
choose 'Properties'.

2) In the 'Fields' tab, select ALL log fields. Also enable all the log
fields for 'ISA Server Firewall service' and 'ISA Server web proxy service'
log. Navigate to 'Monitoring'\'Services', restart the ISA related services.

3) After reproducing the problem, gather the recent log files in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft ISA Server\ISAlogs\ folder and send them to me for further
research.

I hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu (MSFT)
