I'm curious. Why don't you think resellers will have discounted
pricing over MSRP like they have had in the past?

I didn't think one way or the other. I was basing my comments on what
I've read from MS.

With little to no hope of any technology price guaranteee as in past
products, you don't think there will be promotions or incentives
motivating customers to buy '08?

I think it's a total PITA to have to hunt down price sales and such
and if I contact a major vendor and ask about pricing I can get 10
different responses from 10 different sales vendors.

I just went through this with a new client, they wanted a SBS 2003
Prem R2 server and a Terminal Server, 5 CAL, and they wanted to be
able to upgrade to 2008 when it comes ready, so, we wanted Software
Assurance and Volume Licenses..... Don't even get me stared on how
much a pain this was.....

Oh, and with Volume License - SBS doesn't ship with Media, they don't
allow you to download it like they do Server/Office, and you have to
call and request the media kit from MS since the vendors can't order
it for you any more....

When Win 2000 first came out I spent 3 days at the regional MS office
with two licensing specialists in order to make sure that I could
properly quote license requirements to clients, at the small shop and
government levels, 3 days, and they had to make calls to the
mother-ship to get answers on many of the products!

Well at least some things stay the same. <g>
