reliably is a question (some things more so, others not so much) and in
MOST cases, not nearly as easily - which is why you need someone who
knows it.
NIX can provide the same functions, although not the same look, as
anything we do in Windows, generally speaking.
Yes, we have Exchange, they don't, but they have IMAP and other things
that can give good functionality.
Because Linux is a multi-headed beast, you really need to know the
flavor well, not just "Linux", you need to know the distro you are
installing.
For desktops, Fedora has been the easiest to implement for me, no other
distro comes closes to allowing what a typical windows user would need -
even connection to Exchange is nice and looks a lot like Outlook.
For small shops, as with SBS, once you learn to build a solution that
works for most, it will actually install quickly, easily, and it's easy
to maintain.
