Re: Cannot login locally to the SBS box

That is an unusual error. When you connect remotely, are there any errors
in the event logs?

The usual thing we see is the server is responsive from the console, but the
admin is prohibited from local logons.

Any chance the KVM switch is faulty? Or that the keyboard and mouse are
unplugged?

Hello,

1 SBS 2003 SP1 server, 1 Windows 2003 member server as a DC, 15 clients XP
Pro SP2 (working on SP3)

Recently I get this unusual error. I cannot login to the SBS box in the
morning, specially after the weekend. It does not respond to the
CTRL+ALT+DEL or mouse or using the keyboard. As far as I can see
everything works as it should, I can connect using the RWW, there's
nothing in the events log that looks like an error.
All programs work, all connections work.

The only thing I can do is shut it down on the remote, but that makes a
mess of some data people were working on. I asked them to stop working, I
checked that they did but afterwards I had to use the bachup to put the
data back.

The most recent change is I started using Exchange and I'm not 100% sure
that everything is configured as it should.

Please what is the best way to troubleshoot this? (apart from learning a
decent trade.)

Thanks in advance

Regards
Dieter
