Hello Customer,
Thank you for posting here. Let's also thank Jim for the input.
According to your description, I understand that you unable to use RWW to
access client computers desktop thru VPN connection. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:
1. Check the remote desktop connection settings on clients:
a. Right click My Computer on problematic client computer, select
Properties.
b. Click Remote tab, ensure tick "Allow users to connect remotely to this
computer" option.
c. Select Remote Users button, please ensure your user account which need
to RDP to it in the list.
d. Click OK twice to finish.
2. Check the windows firewall settings:
a. Open Control panel on problematic client computer
b. Double click Windows Firewall, select Exceptions tab
c. Ensure the Remote Desktop option is checked
d. Click OK.
3. Ensure the problematic client computers do not install any 3rd-party
firewall on it.
4. RWW desktop connection only support Windows XP client or later. Confirm
the problematic client computer OS version.
5. If the issue persists after above steps, this is mostly the site-to-site
VPN connection issue. Please try to check the site-to-site VPN connection,
and ensure the VPN connection allow 4125 port traffic.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
1. Can you use mstsc to connect the client computers desktop from internal
clients?
2. Try to access RWW from internal clients thru https://SBSname/remote,
then try to access "connect to client desktops". Does it work?
3. Please capture screenshots on the RWW error messages and send the
pictures to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
4. How do you setup the VPN connection?
5. Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu (MSFT)

by second box i presume you mean if i going into computer properties and
check the remote desktop/users are enabled ? if so, yes indeed this is
the case....
|
| as indicated aside from setup of VPN and server updates nothing changed
on the client machines (actually one of the machines had the certificate
installed but i did not do on any others as they are not going
offsite)....
|
|
| anyhow, just to be safe, thought i would try the link you mention....i
can see the machines i want to access from regedit but i cannot connect
to them...error message is consistent with the problem !
|
| so no lukc yet with this...
