Re: vista client (not domain member) gets no internet access on sbs 2003 network

Hi Frans,

In your Network and Sharing Center on the Vista machine, is the Access for the domain network set to Local and Internet or just Local?

From the Vista client:

Can you ping 4.2.2.1 (or another public DNS server's IP)?
Can you ping www.google.com?

I don't use Vista (shudder) but you've got a valid IP address - if
you can't do the ping tests, something else on the laptop is causing
the problem.

I can't ping the router, dns server or website.

I can browse the local network.

But when I connect the computer to the router as the only device and
use static ip adress (router is not dhcp server) I have internet
access.

If you connect this to another network (outside your office) with a DHCP server on it, do you have the same results?
This has to be a Vista thing, honestly. You might want to post in a Vista group.
