This is because the office copy of Windows has to know how to format the
print job before it can send it to the printer.
There are two ways to make it work that I know of:
Install a pdf writer on your server and print to a pdf file and then copy
that file back to your local computer
Install the local (remote) printer on the office computer or Terminal
Server.
Note you want to be careful with this. Do Not install the complete DVD full
of multifunction applications on the office computer if you have a MFP at
the remote location. Look for Universal Print Drivers. And note that some
USB printers will only work if you first introduce them physically to the
office computer. So you would have to carry them into the office, follow
the mfg. instructions to set them up, then carry them back to the remote
location.
Also, there are third party apps that will manage remote printers, but they
are usually overkill for this.

Hello Everybody,
While logged into a desktop (WinXP SP2) at the office using RWW (SBS
2003), I want to print to my local printer at home.
I have clicked on "Optional Settings" and checked the "Enable ... local
printer" option.
When I open Microsoft Word on the office desktop (via RWW) and click
"File" "Print", my local printer at home is NOT listed.
How do I get my documents to print locally?
Thanks
Fred
