RE: OWA issue

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hello Charles,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you get error when you try
to access OWA thru premium mode from one client. If I have misunderstood
the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Since this issue only happen on one client and only happen when access OWA
thru premium mode, I think this is a pure client side issue. I suggest you
repost your issue in XP newsgroup. You will get more professional support
there.

However I will do my best to be of assistance if you still want to continue
here.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

1. This mostly a IE issue on the individual client. I suggest you run IE7
without any add-ons to test this issue:

Please close all IE window on the XP, and then run command "C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe -extoff" to open the IE7 to test this
issue.

2. Some 3rd-party software may affect the IE working. I suggest you perform
clean boot on the XP to test this issue:

To clean boot the problematic computer, please use the steps below:
a. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks). Click OK.

b. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
the Selective Startup button.

c. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
Selective Startup.

d. Click the Services tab, click to check the "Hide All Microsoft Services"
box, and remove all the check marks from the remained Non-Microsoft
Services.

e. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
restart your computer in order to enable the changes.

f. After restarting, please check whether this issue will reoccur.

g. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root cause
of this issue.

3. The corrupted user profile may relate to this issue. I suggest you
create another new user profile on the XP to test
a. Log on as the Administrator or as a user with administrator credentials.
b. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
c. Click User Accounts.
d. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced.
e. In the left pane, click the Users folder.
f. On the Action menu, click New User.
g. Enter the appropriate user information, and then click Create.
g. Logon with the new user account to see if the issue occurs in the user
profile.

If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:

1. Does the problematic client in LAN or WAN?

2. Please capture screenshots on the error messages and send the pictures
to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

3. Gather MPS network report on XP:

a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE

b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe.

c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.

d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\

e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| I have SBS installed using OWA as a secondary method of accessing email.
It
| all works fine for every client but one.
|
| They can open, work with and send in basic mode but cannot send in
Premium
| mode. When they try they freeze up and get the standard error messsage.
In
| event viewer they get errors 1000 and 1001 with a fault bucket for 1001
being
| 715570256.
|
| they run xp pro sp 2 (fully patched) and use IE7.
