Hi,
I have a question in regards to printer sharing on the network. I have
server running on SBS 2003 standard edition. There are a few printers
installed on the server machine and they are made shared across the network.
So far, users in our office have no problem sending job to printers on the
network to print. However, we have this HP printer 110 plus to print A3 paper
size. Users with mobile user or power user permission are having difficulty
in getting anything to print. It always returns with the message "error
printing". But when i tested it by changing the permission for the same user
from mobile user to administrator, the user can print to the printer. So, i
think i'm sure it's to do with the permission. How do i start to look?
I have checked security for the HP printer properties under Control panel on
the server machine and the following is what's been set up
users - with full control
domain user - with only print
power user - with print
mobile user - with print
Is there anywhere else that i should modify as far as permission to print
for this printer is concerned?
Thank you in advance
Some drivers just misbehave, pure and simple. Have you tried
upgrading the driver? HP *very* recently released their universal
print driver version 4.5 and I can tell you that it is the *first*
version of UPD that actually worked with my color laserjets on Vista
with UAC enabled. Previous versions of the UPD, despite being listed
as the *only* vista drivers for some printers, didn't work properly.
I'd start there....might save you from monkeying with permissions.
