revolving connectivity issue

Problem:
The computers will intermittantly drop connection to the server and
all of its services but can still ping the gateway and the internal
interface of the firewall and even yahoo by IP (the SBS is my DNS
server). When I do a continous ping to the server from a computer
having the issue to the server and no replies for as long as the ping
is going. At the exact same time I can ping from "all" other computers
just fine. Now if I click on a mapped drive I noticed that it resolved
the issue from that computer. But then it happened on another PC and
then eventually over a period of days it would happen on all PCs
including the one that I originally had the problem with. I thought it
might be a license issue but I checked and the license count is 5 and
the maxiumum used is 4. I have disabled all GPOs that SBS creates
except the default domain and even then I greatly reduced that policy
to just a password policy.
Environment:
I have a Windows 2003 SBS with 5 user licenses. I only have 4 people
on the network but I have 7 computers. 4 of the computers are new
Windows XP Professional machines, 2 are Windows XP Home and 1 older XP
Pro.
The 4 new ones are the only ones that use any services besides DNS,
WINS and DHCP.
The server is running the following services Active Directory, DHCP,
DNS, WINS, Files and Print services, Exchange, SharePoint and IAS (for
a RADIUS server for Cisco ASA5505).
