Manfred,

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon. I have another problem at this site.
While I can definitely get to the ConnectComputer web site, I am unable to
complete the wizard. It gives me an error message that the list of users
and computers could not be found as in the Microsoft KB 837369. This is
happening with 3 workstations (the only three that are not already
cliented) and all of them are getting the proper information from the DHCP
server on the SBS server using IPCONFIG /ALL. We can ping the server by
name and IP without an issue and all domain functions appear to be
operating properly. The DNS settings on the workstations are configured as
they should be. I've checked the server settings and if you remember, one
of the troubleshooting steps we performed earlier was to re-run the CEICW,
so that has already been done. None of the systems that are already
cliented to the network are having any issues at all.

I'm at a loss on how to try to troubleshoot this problem.

I'm going to take another workstation on site later this week and give it
a try, but any help in the interim would be appreciated.

| Manfred,
|
| I was actually able to resolve this problem over the weekend on both
sites.
| I was troubleshooting a problem with a different customer's RWW site
and
| found a reference to checking the Document list in the Virtual
Directory
| properties (I was getting a very similar message that I didn't have
| permission to view this site when attempting to go to the RWW site).
That
| corrected my RWW site problem and light bulb went on! I compared the
| settings in a server where the ConnectComputer site was working and
sure
| enough, that was the problem.
|
| For anyone else who is suffering with this same issue, here's how I
fixed
| it.
|
| Went into the IIS Manager
| Expanded the Server, then Web Sites, then the Default Web Site
| Right-clicked the ConnectComputer virtual directory and selected
Properties
| On the Document tab Enable default content page was checked (as it
should
| be) but in the list of documents I found only one listed (I believe it
was
| Default.htm, but I can't remember for sure).
| I compared it to a working site and made the list match the working
site.
| The list is as follows:
| Default.aspx
| Default.asp
| index.htm
| iisstart.htm
| Default.htm
| For the missing documents, I just clicked the Add button and entered
the
| document name and then clicked OK.
|
| I did an IISRESET just in case, but I'm not sure it was required.
Voila,
the
| ConnectComputer site was working again.
|
| The only thing I can't figure out is why it happened in the first
place.
| Anyway, I hope this post helps someone else. I've been fighting this
for
| months now.
