I agree it's the off-line files but I can't figure out is how some clients
have it on and some have it off. When I set up the client I follow the same
steps and I don't remember any place that "I" set the off-line files. All I
do is use the wizard on the server to set the MyDocuments redirection to the
default server location, but there must be something I am doing.

Joe, if there is no local copy then what is the synchronization that
takes place during logoff? And what does the user do when the server
is offline like a notebook traveling offsite. I do agree with you
however in environments where users log on to different computers at
different times creating multiple floating copies.
As I mentioned in my earlier reply, that's offline files. Not related to
folder redirection (although it can be used with it) and something I do
not recommend on LAN-connected PCs. On laptops one might make a case for
it, but I prefer third party solutions (www.centered.com) to sync data.

So am I correct in stating there should be a local and a server
copy of My Documents if there is a redirect and that there should
be a small blue sync box on the icon?
I don't think so. That's what happens if My Documents is part of the
roaming profile, as it is by default if they are used. The whole
point of using redirection is so that there *isn't* a local copy of
it, and it doesn't get ferried around the network as the user logs
on and off in various places. That was OK in the early NT days, but
it's not difficult to end up with hundreds of megs in this folder,
particularly if the user has lots of family photographs... and then
has the cheek to complain of long logon and logoff times.
These days, servers don't go down often, and in any case, only
personal items should be kept in My Documents. Business documents
belong in accessible areas on the server, where other employees can
reach them if necessary. Otherwise someone off sick has to phone in
and tell someone else their password, or the company grinds to a
halt.
