2 SBS 2003 Servers on Same Physical LAN

I have a client that currently is two doctors sharing the same space.
They have around 20 computers (10 for one doc and 10 for the other).
In the next few months the one doctor is leaving this space and moving
to a different location.

So they have purchased a second SBS 2003 R2 server (server2) so that I
can move users of the doctor that is staying in the space to that
server. Then the plan is in a few months the other doctor will just
take the old server with him and the new server will be the single SBS
on the network.

The old server (Current) is SBS 2003 SP1 (server1). The newly
purchased server is SBS 2003 R2.

My question is, I had planned on disabling DHCP on the old server and
manually configuring address reservations for the old computers
assigned to the other doctor on the new server. While, I realize this
is a bad idea but just need it to work for a few months. I have run
SBS 2003 domains with a 3rd party (Linux) dhcp server and it worked
fine for years... However, is this feasible ? Do I need to vlan out
the network to be sure the computers for server1 are all on one domain
and the computers for server2 are on another. This way the broadcast
domains should be separate so I can't see a problem but it's a
headache to allow any sharing of printers etc...

I read a comment somewhere that after 7 days one of the SBS server
would detect the other on the LAN and shut down. I can see this
happening if you try to enable two dhcp servers but if only one is on
is this true?

It would be nice if SBS would support domain trusts and/or say more
than 1 domain (even if it was only 2)! Many Small Businesses have two
entity's they want to keep separate yet have less that 75 users so
don't need more than SBS.

The other option I have been thinking about is move the users now
(including the doctor that is moving) then disable the old server.
That would give me time to rebuild it for his new office space since
it's a 3 year old install done by a hack job...

Any ideas / comments are much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Phil
