there is no need to setup a pop3 mail server...SBS comes out of the box with all the tools you need for "remote" users
a. Outlook Web Access (OWA) which will let users access their mail from any web browser anywhere.
b. Outlook over HTTP which allows you to install Outlook for users who are remote and connect over the internet to the Exchange Server and gives them the exact same Outlook functionality as if they were in the office

Hi,
this is becoming very frustrating, as what i am trying to do seems
pretty straight forward. WE have a SBS 2003 with exchange domain
controller server. Exchage is setup for internal email access and we
can send & receive emails no problem. I have been asked to add a pop3
mail server so employess can access their email externally, and this
is where i am having trouble.
I have gone through the Pop3 connector manager in 'Server Admin' and
beleive this to be setup correctly. Under each user, for 'exchange
features' the pop protocol is enabled and running.
When i add the email account in outlook, and click on 'test settings'
establish network connection is OK, find outgoing mail server is OK,
find incoming mail server is OK, lo on to incoing mail server fails,
and send test email fails.
I definately have the right user/pass for logon.
One thing i am not sure, and i have not setup anywhere is the incoming
mail server (currently set to mycompany.net.au and the outgoing mail
server mycompany.net.au). Where can i do this?
Is there anywhere on the net the has a step by step guide on how to
setup pop3 email for exchange 2003 on SBS 2003?
Alternatively any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Simon
