Hi Jim,
Access isn't the actual problem, we did consider using the main office
credentials for the Branch Office but the main office is a barn in a field
literally in the middle of nowhere (dont ask) so were worried that the
Branch Office would grind to a halt when power or comms went down at the
main office (as it does quite often). So it isn't access but just opening
documents on a network share. This is an early version of SBS 2003 which had
ISA 2000 on but is now removed because of issues with:
A) Cannot turn NAT off to allow site to site browsing
B) Imminent implementation of VOIP
The site(s) have a CISCO router and fortigate firewall but the above issue
were happening before these changes were made.
PS The ISA firewall clients were removed from workstations etc.

Have you tried to set the dns and wins at the remote office to use the
main office SBS? Have done a route add -p at the main office to the
remote office?
Some random thoughts about my adventure a while back with satellite
offices.

Hi Henrik,
I can ping the server IP and FQDN without issue from internally and across
the PWAN from the Branch Office, I cannot change the IP address schema now
it is all setup because of the PWAN configuration, I am getting very good
ping results with hardly any latency both from internal and across the
PWAN.

The head office has 2 servers and it doesnt matter from what server a
document is opened from the users still get this 2 minute odd delay and 2
folders showing in task manager when they open the document by browsing to
it via Windows Explorer, if they open a document attachment straight from
Outlook then they typically see 4 folders in Task Manager and the delay is
even longer. If they open the document from the Application then they dont
see this delay.
Thanks again.

Can you , from WS, ping the servers IP adess without problems?
Can you do the same and ping the hostname and FQDN of the server?
Also, If I missed IT, can you post an IP config from a WS that
experiences
this problem?
