Re: Recovering Full SBS 2003 Server - Original Partition Sizes?

Storagecraft needs partitions at least as big as the originals, it won't restore a partition to a smaller size even if the data will fit. So one needs to know.

If I recall correctly, Paragon Drive Backup *will* restore to a smaller size, so long as the data fits - providing a little bit more flexibility if one needs to rob from one partition to pay another.

an ASR restore will re-create partitions of the same size if the drive space is available. It chucks a wobbly if it doesn't have enough space to do so.

Non-ASR doesn't care, make them anything (sensible) you like.

I've pushed myself into a corner mostly out of stupidity. I've spent
so much time taking care of clients that I didn't note what the
partition sizes were on my own server.

As luck would have it for the shoe maker, I don't know what the
original partition sizes were for my server. I have to do a restore
and it looks like I need to have this information.

I have a good backup from the day prior but I don't know how to format
the initial install of SBS 2003 R2 in order to do the restore.

Can anyone help me figure out what those sizes were? The daily server
admin reports only show free space.

Aside from slapping me upside the head, is there anything you can
offer?

This is bad timing..right before spring break and I need email!!!

I've heard great things about Shadow Protect so that's on my to do
list once I get out of this pickle.

Thanks much in advance.
