Hello John,
Thank you for your update.
I'm sorry to hear that your PC crashed. You can find this post under the
following page:

To run the CEICW, we still suggest you select "Enable firewall". This
option will configure ISA to provide network security and packet filtering.
However, the clients unable to access Internet after you enable firewall.
This is another issue. I will troubleshot it for you.
Note: You select "Disable firewall" when run CEICW not means disable whole
ISA server 2004 on SBS, but just disable some network security and packet
filtering functions.
Note: Usually, we do not need to manually configure the ISA server 2004,
the CEICW will help us to configure it.
For the clients unable to access Internet after you enable firewall thru
CEICW issue, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can resolve
this issue:
1. Your router support UPnP, we need to run the CEICW thru following steps:
Two network adapters - UPnP router connection to broadband
a. Before you run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard,
make sure that the network connection to the router is enabled, that the
cables are connected, and that the router is turned on.
b. A message that reports that the UPnP router was detected appears.
c. On the Do you want the wizard to configure the router? page, click Yes.
d. On the Router Connection page, the values will be populated by the UPnP
router. Type different values if the values that you want are different.
e. Click to clear the My server uses a single network connection for both
Internet access and the local network check box, and then click Next.
f. On the Network Connection, You must enable and configure the network
connection to your ISP page, under Connection Name, click Network
Connection.
g. Click Obtain an IP address automatically (use DHCP), and then click
Next.
h. On the Network Connection, You must click the connection for your ISP
and local network page, click Network Connection under ISP network
connection.
i. Under Local network connection, click Server Local Area Connection, and
then click Next.
j. Complete the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard.
2. By default, the ISA 2004 will block anonymous Internet access. So please
ensure the client computer join SBS domain thru connectcomputer wizard and
logon the computer with domain user account.
3. Please ensure the client IE web proxy settings is properly:
a. Open the IE on the client computer
b. Open Internet Options, select Connections tab, click LAN settings button
c. Tick the option "Use a proxy server for your LAN", input SBS internal IP
(192.168.16.2), and port 8080 (by default), and uncheck Automatically
detect settings
d. Click OK three times to finish.
4. Please try to install the ISA server 2004 firewall client on the client
computer:
On each workstation, please access \\SBSServerName\mspclnt\, then run
setup.exe.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the above steps, please
help me collect some information for further investigation:
1. What error do you get when access Internet? Please capture screenshots
on the error messages and send the pictures to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. Can you access Internet on SBS?
3. Do you get any error when run CEICW?
4. Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Terence,
|
| I lost the thread on my PC so I am sending you this eMail. (Disk crash,
had
| to rebuild & old threads did not appear).
|
| I re-ran CEICEW like you said. The first time I enabled the ISA 2004
| firewall through my D-Link DIR-130 router. I could access RWW internally
| over the LAN. However, all outbound internet access was blocked on my
| network clients. The server (Win2K3 SBS R2) could get out to the internet.
|
| I re-ran CEICEW and disabled the firewall and now I have internet
| connectivity for all clients and LAN/WAN access to RWW.
|
| My question, why could I not get the firewall/router to work together and
| am I at risk?
|
| The router supports UPnP and it is turned on.
|
| I re-posted the thread yesterday.
|
| Thanks so much for your help
|
.
