and I just _CANNOT_ understand why.
By being in a workgroup you are no 'closer' to the various domains than you
would be should you be a member of a particular domain. While your
workstation is not a member of any particular domain it is not controlled by
anyone's policy, I don't want you plugging that 'rogue' into my network, I
would be much more tolerant of you plugging it into my network if I knew it
was under 'some' administrator's control.

A lot of people, myself included, use laptops that stay in a workgroup
level and are never joined to a domain ... htat allows us to move from one
SBS server to another.

I have a need to temporarily disable the firewall on XP/SP2 laptop used on
an
SBS 2003 / ISA 4 network. When using the laptop off net using the local
login, the firewall "off" setting is greyed out. I understand this is
controlled by GPO but not sure how to change it. ISA client is
installed.
The laptop is used to program phone systems and the installation software
will not work with the firewall.
