RE: Cannot Edit Logion Scripts

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that when attempting to edit logon scripts, an
error message was received. It indicated that the file is being used by
another person or program.

This issue can be caused by several factors.

Firstly, please ensure no client workstation is executing the script and
then check if it can be edited.

If the issue persists, let's try following steps to see if it helps:

Step 1:
========
1. Open the group policy which implement the logon scripts.
2. remove the script that you would like to edit.
3. After that, please check if the script can be edited.

Step 2:
======
1. Right click the script file and click Properties.
2. Please check if the attributes are set correctly.
3. Click Security tab.
4. Please ensure the permission settings are correct.

Step 3: Clean boot on the server
====================
1. Click Start and Click Run, and in the "Open" line, type in "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks) and click OK.
2. Under the Service tab, check "Hide All Microsoft Services", and then
click "Disable All" button. In this way, we can disable all the services
which belong to third-party programs.
3. Under the Startup tab, click "Disable All" button.

4. Click OK.
5. Choose Yes to restart the computer.
6. Check "Don't show this message or launch the system configuration
utility when Windows starts".
7. Please check if the issue persists.

NOTE: We can check on Normal Startup in the General tab to roll back to
Normal Mode after we finish the steps.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. If the problem still
occurs, please help me gather following information:

1. Please capture a screenshot of the error message received on the client
workstation when attempting to visit the SharePoint server:

To capture the image, we can perform the steps below:

(a) When the error message appears, press the Print Screen key several
times (this key is located to the right of the F12 key on the keyboard)
(b) Open Paint ['start' => 'All Programs' => 'Accessories' => 'Paint'].
(c) Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
(d) Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a .jpg or .gif file and send it
to me as an attachment.

2. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link, reproduce
the issue and run it on the SBS server, then send the generated CAB file to
my mailbox v-mzhuan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation so that we can
find what the root cause is:

concern, please feel free to let me know.
