Hello Bilbo,
Thank you for your update.
I hope everything is going well.
If there's anything else I can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me
know.
If we cannot resolve the issue after we perform the steps, please help me
collect MPS report on SBS for further investigation:
Gather MPS network report on SBS:
a. Download MPSrepot_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you and have a nice day,
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hello Terence,
|
| I've read the KB article (810489) you directed me to and it would not
| appear that any of the issues that demand the MTA service are present
| on my network.
|
| a) there are no other servers on the local network;
| b) there are no GROUPWISE or NOTES connectors;
| c) there are no third-party FAX connectors.
|
| I think I'll begin by re-running CEICW as you suggested (after hours).
| When I moved the second e-mail domain, I did NOT re-run CEICW as -- to
| my mind -- no parameters were changed. The certificate was for the
| first domain, and that was for the default e-mail domain. The
| firewall settings and the e-mail settings didn't change.
|
| Since I've next to no experience with what is routine about NDRs and
| Exchange Server, I was alarmed.
|
| If re-running CEICW has no effect (I will NOT allow it to reconfigure
| my router) I'll consider enabling MTA service. I have NO diagnostic
| logging enabled.
|
| Thanks for your reply and suggestions.
| I'll let you know how it turns out.
