I recently upgraded 5 workstations running W2k to XP Pro. All areyou can prevent it by
connected to a 2003 server. Since the upgrade 2 of the 5 PC's are
subject to the following issue. They drop their connection to the
server after several hours off no activity. This is usually over
night and requires a restart or re-login the
following morning. 4 of the 5 PC's are identical in hardware specs so
I can't see it being a hardware issue and besides they all worked
fine prior to upgrading to XP. I have disable the power save feature
that can turn off the NIC to save power.
Should I be using the net use /persistant command to map the shares?
I haven't done this on any of the PC's and 3 of the 5 stay connected
without any issues.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
1. Make sure your clients log off every night (as it should be).
I also believe there is a net command you can try on the workstation, I
think
it
is
Net config server /autodisconnect:-1
