I have a Sonicwall hardware firewall as the Internet router, so I don't lose much protection.


I would have to disagree with this. I have 3 different sites that use SonicWALL appliances and I would not rely on them alone, even with the killer extra subscription fees you have to pay to get event basic content filtering, etc.

Did you get a chance to run the logs to see what rule is actually firing when you access microsoft.com?
