Re: Cannot connect through ISA Server to www.microsoft.com, but can connect via IP address

Thank you. I did run CEICW to setup the SBS networking. That was a few years ago, and since then SBS has been upgraded to SP1, SP2 and R2. So I don't know if the defaults have changed since then? I added the internal IP as the DNS Server for the external interface, but the problem persists. It's intermittent. Occasionally, but very rarely, browsing to www.microsoft.com works fine. Still occasionally, but not quite as rarely, it works but painstakingly slow to pain the home page. Browsing to the ip address always works more or less instantly.

I also ran the ISA BPA, without finding any issues. I was thinking of removing ISA from the SBS server. I have a Sonicwall hardware firewall as the Internet router, so I don't lose much protection. My thinking is that since the next SBS will be single NIC anyway, maybe it's not a bad idea to get ready for that now. What do you think?

Did you use CEICW to set up networking on your SBS? The only difference I see is that, in my SBS boxes, the TCP/IP settings for the *external* adapter all point to the *internal* subnet IP address DNS Server. (In your case that would mean MAC 00-04-23-B0-C1-B3 would have a preferred DNS Server of 192.168.38.2). I only had time to check 3 of my client's SBS boxes but they are all set up that way.
