Re: BT Customers: Mail Server Issues: Thursday 14th

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Teno

During the issue yesterday I double and tripple checked our config. It was
tip top. You see nothing had been changed at our end. I'm the only one who
manages our systems so I knew nothing had been changed.

The good news is, BT has resolved the mail server issue and our outgoing
mail is fine again. Odd that none of your customers suffered though, perhaps
it was a geographical issue. I'm up here in sunny Scotland.

Thanks again for your help.

Came in this morning to find emails Q'd to some domains. Spent 3 hours
trying
to solve the problem but saw nothing out of the ordinary. First thing I
did
at 9am was phone BT status line but no problems reported. Then at 12pm I
checked their status line again and they confirmed they're having a
problem
with their email servers that meant some customers were having problems
sending emails.

I figured that was the problem.

Those emails are still in the Q and the BT status report keeps saying the
same thing. (0800 169 0199). A similar message is given out on their
support
number 0845 600 7020 (which I cant get through to!).

I'm glad you've posted this though as I'll now spend some more time on
this
instead of waiting for BT.

Hi Jason...

Have over 50 clients ( BT Business ) with BT... no issues here... you
sure
its not due to your BT Mail relay or BT rDNS ?

Do appreciaite the post though as it did prompt us to check a few

After spending 3 hours trying to figure out why some emails to certain
domains were being queued in the exchange queue, it turns out the
problem
is
with BT's Mail Servers and they are working on the issue.

So if you are a BT Broadband customer, hopefuly this post will save you
some
time investigating the issue.
