You cannot have a second PTR for the same IP. Think about how a reverse
lookup works.

Hello,
In a nutshell here is my problem concerning outbound email. We are setting
up SBS 2003 Premium R2. Internal domain is companyA.local. Reply to
address for mail is (user)@ companyA.com. But, they have another domain,
CompanyB.com. Three companyA domain users need a reply to address of
(user)@companyB.com. I can change the three user's default reply to
address to (user)@companyB.com. I am concerned about some companyB email
bouncing. CompanyA has a single static IP address. I will have their ISP
set up a PTR record pointing their IP to smtp.companyA.com. So, recipients
that care to do a reverse DNS will find the correct domain name match.
But, I do not know how to handle companyB.com email. Is it possible to
have a second PTR record mapping the same IP address to smtp.companyB.com
as well? What is the best way to deal with this? Probably most mail will
go through without problem, but I really need to provide the most reliable
email possible for these folks.
Thanks in advance.
Dave Davis
