We have dual nic + router configuration. The internal nic is on a different
subnet from the external nic which is connected to the router. DHCP is
disabled on the router but active on the server.

I need to be able to connect to provide user assistance, not so much for
software installs. Whilst LogMeIn would work it would not be ideal.
As per Claus's suggestion I checked the subnet on VPN machines and they

installations/updates, where you would need to log in under their account
credentials on the remote machine.

We have set up VPN access on our SBS 2003 box for our remote users
which
works fine. The problem I have is that, when they are connected I
cannot
ping
them or connect to them for admin purposes. (Install software etc)
Their
VPN
connection shows up in DCHP with RAS under the Unique ID column
instead
of
the remote PC mac code and the servername in the name column instead of
the
device name.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this?
