Re: Setting up clients when migrating from Win 2000 Server to sbs2003

As Cris says the docs and tools have changed a lot since NT4 days and you also will get Jeff's support with a new kit. You won't have to touch the WS's since the Domain and Server name are the same but be sure that you check Jeff's Domain Audit guide for Blocking issues before starting if you migrated from NT4. Remember that the W2000 Workstations will not have RWW capability and you may want to consider upgrading them to XP or Vista by Open License..

What is your Internal Domain Name and Server name?

Hi

I am shortly going to be migrating from Win 2000 Server, to SBS 2003 R2 on
new hardware. Would a 'Swing Migration' be the best way of doing this ?
About 4 years ago I migrated from NT to SBS 2003 using this method, does
anyone know if the documentation would have changed since then, as if not it
would save me having to purchase the 'Swing Migration' kit again, although if
I have to I will as it is a great product.

Regarding the migrating of all the clients, which are a combination of Win
2000 and Win XP, what is the quickest way of doing this, as there will be
approx 45 clients spread over 3 sites. Do I have to go round each computer in
turn and run the 'Connect Computer' wizard. Hopefully there is a quicker way
of doing this, or at least a way that users can continue to access the
internet (and a unix server on the network running an application), while I
go round them all and run the wizard.

Any thoughts / advice are appreciated.
