Here is a link to the WMI troubleshooter. Maybe that will give you something

Downloaded, ran the thing. Have about 10 pages of report to go through. A
lot of warnings though. Once I get through the pages maybe I'll find a
solution to my problem.
One of the very first entries is this though:
36133 14:47:50 (2) !! WARNING: The following issues have been found with
the following files: ............................................. 1
FILE(S)!
36134 14:47:50 (0) ** => At this location,
'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WMIPRVSE.EXE' is a ROGUE file. It is NOT a WMI file.
It MUST be deleted.
36135 14:47:50 (0) ** This is an issue because 'WMIPRVSE.EXE' at this
location is a rogue file coming with Trojan.Gletta.A
Just a side note on the virus situation here:
From what I've been told, they originally had Norton AntiVirus, but thesubscription ended and because they didn't like the program, it was never
renewed. The AV software was then removed, and for atleast a year the
entire network was without any form of anti-virus or firewall protection.
Sometime last year, a warning was issued by the ISP that a very large
amount of viruses and similars were streaming out of the Internet
connection, and they had 30 days to resolve the issue or the connection
would be closed. McAfee Total Security was then purchased, and installed on
all machines. From the reports I've been given, a very large amount of
viruses and trojans were found and removed after the installation. But
since then, because McAfee has created a very large amount of packet loss
and connectivity problems, the McAfee firewalls have been disabled, and
we're currently in the process of purchasing a complete AVG suite to
replace it. After test driving AVG, it's become evident that a significant
amount of trojans have been left on the computers by McAfee's anti-virus,
but are being picked up and removed by AVG.
