And do NOT select automatic store - you need to put it in the Root store. The reason is that the elevated user is not the same as the regular user, and the default is to put it in the user's store.

Has anyone gotten this to work on a vista machine? Or maybe on an XP machine.

here is an exerpt from my "How To" from the first section which explains how to install the cert.

a. Navigate to http://mail.mycompany.com/exchange b. When Prompted don’t click yes, rather click view certificate
c. Select install certificate
d. Click Next
e. Make sure “Automatically select a certificate store…” is selected and click next again.
f. Click finish.
g. Click Yes
h. Click Ok, and now you may select yes at the original security prompt.

Does anyone know how to adapt these instructions for IE7?

Run IE as administrator.
Right mouse click and elevate IE.
