Legit question, here is the answer.
As a part of my work ( I wear 3 hats), I do system documentation for our all
of our clients, all of it is done on the laptop. The laptop is by the way
low level encrypted, so if no password available, you need to wipe it out.
Only myself and the boss has access, we each have our own profile, as it
should be. To segregate responsibility and liability, and comply with some
of our financial industry clients, the documents are under my profile,
other relevant material under his.
What the boss should have done is create a 3rd profile and copy only the
documents my stand-by needed to his profile. What he did, was giving the
guy my password so he can access everything and stop bugging him.
This is the biggest no no ever, however My boss always had my password in
case someone runs over me on the way to lunch.
I guarantee you, after last night's conversation, it will never happen
again.
